The former president of Nintendo of America believes Xbox should have a greater presence on Switch 2

From 2006 to April 2019, Reggie Fils-Aimé served as president of Nintendo’s American division. He was a well-liked figure among fans and was the subject of plenty of memes.

Now retired, Fils-Aimé took the time to answer questions from The Game Business. Among the topics discussed, he shared his thoughts on the presence of Xbox games on Switch 2. He said he was surprised by the relative absence of Microsoft titles on the Nintendo console.

“I’m surprised that Xbox has not yet fully embraced Switch 2 from a software perspective. Certainly some games could easily be ported over to Switch 2. And I’m surprised that we haven’t seen more of that.

  • I thought there would be much more, especially during this timeframe leading into the Holiday. All through the fall, I was fully expecting some dedicated announcement. And I’m surprised it hasn’t happened.”*

On a lighter note, Reggie Fils-Aimé revealed that Nintendo didn’t bother to send him a Switch 2 at launch.

“For fans who might be wondering, I have to say that I had to get it myself. I had to find a way to get my hands on a Switch 2.

The company didn’t send me the console for free.”
