Microsoft intends to continue opening up to other ecosystems via its future console. Discussions are already well underway to include the Epic Games Store in this next-generation Xbox.
During an interview with Game File, Steve Allison, head of the Epic Games store, said he had begun negotiations with Microsoft to bring the Epic Games Store to the next Xbox at launch.
However, Epic will first have to design a dedicated application to enable this integration. For now, the company wants to focus on improving the store and its launcher on PC. But Allison has not lost sight of his ambitions for Xbox.
“We definitely plan to be on the new hardware for Xbox, because, unless their policy or stance on it changes, they are telling us theyโre going to welcome that.”
“And weโre going be there, like, on day one. That will probably require us to build in whatever their requirements are, some sort of software to support that.”
