The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Physical Deluxe Edition Will Include Game Content on Disc

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Physical Deluxe Edition Will Include Game Content on Disc

In light of the recent confusion that has been going around about whether or not the physical release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered will include a disc with game data or if it will a code in a box release, Bethesda has offered some clarification. Taking to social media platform X, the company has confirmed that the base game will be included in the Physical Deluxe Edition release for both PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Along with the disc itself, the company has also confirmed that there will be a code that gives buyers access to all of the extra digital goodies that are part of the Deluxe Edition release. This includes armour sets, weapons, and even horse armour, along with the digital soundtrack and the two expansions – Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine.

The Deluxe Edition of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered will include the base game, new quests for Akatosh and Mehrunes Dragon Armours, weapons and Horse Armour sets, the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions, the digital artbook and soundtrack, and a host of extra downloadable content: Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard’s Tower, The Orrery, and Horse Armor Pack.

“The Physical Deluxe Edition includes the base game in disc format for Xbox or PlayStation, along with a code that grants access to the digital story content and digital deluxe content,” wrote the company on social media.

While Bethesda had announced that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Deluxe Edition would be getting a physical release on October 13 just last week, there was a bit of confusion regarding the contents of the physical release owing to some older online retailer listings. One such listing through online retailer PlayAsia indicated that some regions of the world would get a disc with the game’s contents in the box, while other regions would have to make do with a download code.

The confusion wasn’t helped by the fact when the boxes for the physical release on both PS5 and Xbox were spotted as needing Internet connections. The Xbox Series X version also noted that it “requires content download” on its physical box. The PS5 version, on the other hand, made it clear that the download was simply for Digital Deluxe content.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered was released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S was released earlier this year as a shadowdrop. The title is essentially the same 2006-era open-world RPG from the PS3/Xbox 360 era, but with a fresh coat of paint thanks to modern visuals, as well as refinements having been made to core gameplay like combat and the levelling system.

For more details about The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, check out our review, where we gave it a score of 9 out of 10 thanks to the visual upgrades and overhauled levelling system, while noting flaws like bugs and outdated dungeon design. These aspects likely helped the RPG get 9 million players back in July.
