The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Physical Deluxe Edition is Coming Out on October 13

After quite a bit of speculation and a fair number of rumours, Bethesda has now officially confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is getting a physical release on October 13. Taking to social media platform BlueSky, Bethesda confirmed with the official The Elder Scrolls account that the physical release will be for the Deluxe Edition.

Humorously, Bethesda decided to announce the physical release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered by showing it as an in-game item through the Oblivion Remastered inventory screen. “When you’ve cleared two goblin caves, an underwater shipwreck, and the entire town of Hackdirt, and you still can’t remember where you picked this item up,” wrote the company.

While the release has been confirmed, there is still the question of whether it will feature a game disc in the box or whether it will end up as a “Code in a Box” release, where it just includes a code to download the game digitally. This question first arose earlier this month thanks to a Reddit user who had pre-ordered the title through online retailer PlayAsia. A report indicates the “Code in a Box” release will only happen in some regions.

According to the report, the North American and European releases will feature game discs on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The rest of the world, however, will seemingly have to make do with just getting their hands on download codes.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered’s Physical Deluxe Edition is set to include the game itself, along with in-game goodies, including new quests for Akatosh and Mehrunes Dragon Armours, weapons and Horse Armour sets, the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions, the digital artbook and soundtrack, and a host of extra downloadable content: Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard’s Tower, The Orrery, and Horse Armor Pack.

The title – a remastered release of an open-world RPG that came out all the way back in 2006 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, has seen quite a bit of success since its release earlier this year. After having been shadow dropped back in April, the game quickly grew to getting more than 4 million players. A report from July has indicated that the number has grown even further, with 9 million players having checked it out.

Since its release, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has also been getting continued support by Bethesda and developer Virtuos through the release of updates. An update from back in July, for example, focused on fixing several of the game’s various bugs.

The remastered elements of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered go well beyond just visual upgrades. Bethesda has noted that quite a few aspects of the title were tweaked, including more responsive combat, as well as a more simplified leveling system that doesn’t over-complicate things.
