The director of Hell is Us describes the release of Hollow Knight Silksong as callous

The release of a game such as Hollow Knight: Silksong is bound to hurt other titles launched during the same period. Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, creative director at Hell is Us, has been very clear about his feelings on the matter.

In particular, he considered the announcement of the release date for Silksong to be “callous” to Hell is Us, which also launched on September 4.

“When you know you’re that big, I think a shadow drop is a bit like – wow. As the ‘GTA 6 of indie… to shadow drop something like this is a little callous.”

Jonathan Jacques-Belletête said he discussed a possible delay of Hell is Us with Nacon, but the idea was quickly dismissed. Such a decision would have required refunding pre-orders.

Finally, while he didn’t have any specific figures to give, the creative director acknowledged that the release of Silksong had a real impact on sales of Hell is Us.
