The developers of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 have great ideas for their next game

After the critical and commercial success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Sandfall Interactive is now eagerly awaited by millions of players around the world. The French studio is well aware of this and will therefore redouble its efforts with regard to its upcoming productions.

In an interview with Edge magazine, members of the company discussed their future game. François Meurisse, Sandfall’s director of operations and production, admitted to feeling “a bit of pressure”. Everyone at the studio is already working on a new title.

“We’ll have time to get really focused into the next game. We have some great ideas we’re so excited to explore, and we don’t start from the same point. The team already has five more years of experience. So maybe we can do some great stuff.”

As for Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, lead writer on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, she says she is aware of fans’ expectations and admits to being “a bit of a people pleaser”.

“Creatively, we’ve always let our North Star be our own personal taste in terms of what we think is cool, what it is we enjoy and want to see. I’ve seen too many TV shows and books be swayed trying to please a lot of people, and in the process you end up losing the heart of what’s there. So [we] feel like we need to trust our instincts and continue to trust the vision behind the studio.”

It remains to be seen whether Sandfall will move towards a sequel to Clair Obscur or something different.
