Announced in March, Pickmon sparked controversy for being a copy of Pokémon and Palworld. To quell the backlash, the game changed its name earlier this week to Pickmos.
Ultimately, the title was completely removed from Steam. In a message posted on X, the developers stated that their publisher, Networkgo, made this decision. While remaining vague about the reason behind this reversal, the studio clarified that Pickmos is not currently canceled.
“We are revising the game to ensure a controversy-free experience. It will be re-released once our publisher gives the final approval.”
It is therefore likely that Pickmos will come back in a different form to avoid a potential legal battle with Nintendo or even Pocketpair.

It’s interesting to see how the gaming community reacts to these decisions. The removal of Pickmos certainly highlights the ongoing challenges around originality in game design. Looking forward to seeing what the developer plans next!
