In the Pokémon world, one of the most common types to find is the Normal-type. These Pokémon can be found in grasslands, such as the Hoenn-based Skitty, or near trees, like the avian Pokémon Pidgey. For many new Trainers, it is common for them to have at least one Normal-type Pokémon in their roster, such as a Bidoof or a Starly. This was also the case for Ash Ketchum, who caught a wild Pidgeotto at the start of his journey.
