Heavily criticized by gamers upon its release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 still boasts a Metacritic average of 82% thanks to the specialist press. This score contrasts sharply with the 1.7/10 rating given by gamers.

Unfortunately for Activision, other reviews have been published by specialist sites. As a result, the very respectable score of 82% has now dropped to 71% for the PC version, based on 32 reviews. The PS5 version scores a low 69% (22 reviews) and the Xbox Series version also scores 69% (8 reviews).

In the main series, only Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023) fared worse, with an average score of 56%.
