The BioWare devs are concerned following the acquisition of Electronic Arts

It’s now official: EA will once again become a private company. The American publisher is being bought by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners for approximately $55 billion. Thus, some of the studios belonging to the group are uncertain about their future.

BioWare is clearly in this situation, if we are to believe a new article by Insider Gaming. Already reduced to less than a hundred employees following the commercial failure of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the studio is very concerned about its future. Several anonymous employees believe that BioWare will be one of the first studios to experience budget cuts.

“Look at the negativity that came after Dragon Age. If we felt it was only going to get worse then, you can imagine what some of us think now.”

Another employee said that he has been preparing for being fired for several months now.

“I’ve been doing it since last year, but I’m making sure I have a portfolio ready and feelers out for other jobs. Kind of feels like a matter of time.”
