The Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake is going for an RPG style similar to Shadows

Among the many Assassin’s Creed games in development, the remake of Black Flag is one of the most eagerly awaited. In a video, the Jeux VidĂ©o Magazine channel revealed new information about the project.

Let’s start with the gameplay, which will be more in line with the RPG formula of recent titles such as Shadows. The same will be true for combat and the inventory system. In addition, the present-day sections will be replaced by additional content featuring Edward.

Ubisoft has also reportedly removed loading times when moving from the ship to land. The map will likely not be any larger, but the islands will feature new activities. Narrative elements removed from the 2013 game, such as parts of Mary Read’s storyline, will be included.

The engine from Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be used for this remake. However, we shouldn’t expect a remake as ambitious as those of Resident Evil 2 or Silent Hill 2. This version will remain faithful to the original game, but with improvements. Assets from Skull and Bones will even be reused.

Finally, Ubisoft is aiming to launch Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake in early 2026 (around March). However, a delay until the end of next year can’t be ruled out.
