The Anbernic RG DS is likely to disappoint when it comes to emulating 3DS games

Unveiled in early October, the Anbernic RG DS promised to offer effective emulation of DS and 3DS games for less than $100. Now, we can see the technical specifications of the device thanks to its AliExpress listing.

This model is equipped with two 4-inch screens with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. It also features a Rockchip RK3568 SoC, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, and a 4,000 mAh battery. The console runs on Android 14 and has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The price will undoubtedly be refined, but it is currently listed at $108.99.

Unfortunately, initial reports suggest that the Anbernic RG DS will struggle to run 3DS games satisfactorily. Furthermore, the screen resolution does not allow for ideal scaling for all DS games. So don’t expect a console of impeccable quality.

It’s always interesting to see new hardware releases, especially in the gaming world. The Anbernic RG DS certainly has a lot of expectations to meet, and it’s good to hear some honest assessments about its performance. Hopefully, future updates or models will improve the emulation experience.
