The ad-supported version of Xbox Cloud Gaming is expected to come this year

Microsoft will soon open up its cloud gaming solution to a wider audience. There are rumors already circulating about a possible ad-supported version of the service.

In a post on X, Tom Warren, a journalist for The Verge, shared a screenshot stating “1 hour of ad-supported playtime per session”. This message appears to have been posted by mistake by the Xbox cloud service.

Later, an article published by Windows Central provided more information on how this option would work. Players who opt for this solution will be able to play titles from their Xbox digital library via the cloud. Games included in the Xbox Game Pass will not be accessible if the user does not have an active subscription to the service. A previous report stated that it would be possible to play for one hour per session, with up to five hours free per month.

Finally, this proposal should be operational this year. The exact date has not been disclosed.
