Steam’s latest cosy platform currently has all positive reviews, and you can play it for free right now.
If you like indie games, Steam is probably your best friend. It doesn’t do a super job of showing it but it’s a treasure trove of bitesized games that can often be played for free or with a small cash investment.
While there are so many games to try, the one we’ll be focusing on today is called Origament: A Paper Adventure.
Origament: A Paper Adventure is described as “A cozy 3D platformer where an important letter travels across ages and worlds – through living origami, purring cats, quests and puzzles.”
Looking at the gameplay footage, it has a lot in common with the Paper Mario series, but it’s not an RPG like Nintendo’s spin-off. It also reminds me of a game that launched earlier this month called Hirogami, which was similarly all about being made from paper.
The concept of being an important letter that delivers itself is a neat idea, and while a piece of paper transforming into different shapes and forms has been done before, it still works well.
Origament: A Paper Adventure isn’t out yet unfortunately but if you’re interested in giving it a go there’s a free demo available to download and play right now. It should give you a feel for how the game controls, which will likely be a big deciding factor for people interested in playing it, without giving away too much of the story.
From what we’ve seen so far though it’s worth it, as at the time of writing all of its reviews are positive.
One review read: “Interesting concept! Fun combination of quite different mechanics.
First I thought it’s something similar to Paper Sky – but it’s not! Completely different approach and feeling. The game is both chill, but at the same time it throws in fun puzzles for a light challenge. Very original take on platforming, good job!”
Another read: “The demo game is great after work, except that the second chapter isn’t chill at all, you have to concentrate on those wagons there.”
It looks like good fun, so if you fancy giving it a go for yourself and perhaps leaving your own take in the reviews section that free demo is waiting for you.
