Steam Free Download Is a Cosy Animal Crossing Spiritual Successor

Another Steam Next Fest demo has dropped, and Animal Crossing fans are sure to love it.

Trade Tales combines the cosy farming vibes of games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, where you become the owner of a small farm and are responsible for growing your businesses and turning them into a large empire.

In Trade Tales, you can create your own character, designing their face, clothes, hair, and accessories. With it being a 3D game, there’s obviously a bit more detail here than Stardew Valley, and the game has this rich anime art style that fits with these types of cosy games.

During the game, you must gather resources by farming crops, fishing in rivers, mining for rare ore, or raising animals for essential goods. This may also require you to trade with other people, to allow you to gain materials and upgrades for your various tools and equipment.

As for the various businesses you can open, these range from restaurants and clothing shops, to bakeries and electronics shops. Basically, if there’s a certain type of business you’d prefer to run, the game allows you to do that.

The actual process of running a business appears to be integrated into the gameplay, too. For example, running a shop means needing to keep the shelves stocked and the floors clean. You’ll have to serve customers and make sure they’re happy, while also ensuring that you can grow your profits.

“A rags to riches simulator where you learn to build wealth from being homeless. Learn to farm, craft goods, open a business, become a CEO, and grow your brand into a billion dollar empire. Live your story, start a family, and leave a lasting legacy in a world full of untold stories,” reads the game’s official description on Steam.

If you want to check out Trade Tales for yourself, you can grab the demo as part of Steam Next Fest until the end of the week.

Steam Next Fest is an event hosted by Steam roughly three times a year where thousands of developers and creators release demos of their upcoming games for players to check out. These demos are usually accompanied by livestreams and Q&As as well.

The current Steam Next Fest is live now, and is running until 20 October. So you still have time to check any of these demos out.
