Steam Cozy New 96% Rated Free Hit Is An Immensely ‘Satisfying’ Must-Play

If you’re a fan of cosy gaming but tired of the tried and tested formula of farming, cooking, and decorating, then listen up.

ReStory is an upcoming cosy title that’s left gamers highly impressed following the debut of its free demo during the recent Steam Next Fest.

Developed by Mandragora and published by tinyBuild, this electronics repair shop simulator is set within Tokyo in the mid 2000s and sees players restore a variety of electronics.

Customers may bring you video game consoles, mobile phones, music players, or “other nostalgic devices” – and that includes something that looks a lot like a Tamagotchi.

Developers have even teamed up with Atari to bring you authentic consoles to fix, although other famous consoles are represented via less official means.

You’ll hear your customers’ story before taking in an item to fix before you summon them back to pick up the completed order.

Items within ReStory need disassembling with the player then able to clean each component thoroughly.

If there are broken elements, you’ll need to order in duplicates of that same item online.

The more you pay for a duplicate, the more working components it’ll have, whereas a cheap online order may only result in one or two usable parts.

There’s a narrative element to ReStory too.

“Will you report on a disturbing find inside the former gangster’s phone, or help a lovestruck student confess to his crush? Make your own choices and see how they impact the branching storyline,” devs tease.

Steam is home to plenty of cosy treats:

This “Incredibly Satisfying” Repair Sim Already Has Us Convinced

We previously had the chance to go hands-on with the title and it very much left us impressed.

Restory is incredibly satisfying,” GAMINGbible said in its preview. “It’s fiddly but then that’s where the game’s light sense of challenge comes into play.”

We continued, “As I progressed through the game’s days, I built up a more stable stock of parts, very much increasing my productivity. I also had a taste of the game’s narrative, with Restory offering various dialogue options that’ll affect how your customers feel about you.

“The game is extremely relaxing and definitely one I’ll be picking up in 2026, so I suggest you give the upcoming playtest a go if your curiosity has been piqued.”

Players are similarly impressed with ReStory’s latest demo, accruing an approval score of 96%, correct at the time of writing.

“Very enjoyable demo, includes the right amount of content to get a feel for the game. Very calming and cosy experience,” remarked one happy player.

“Amazing demo, while playing it you don’t even notice how fast time goes by. Will definitely buy it once it comes out,” added another.

Someone said, “Very cosy game. The demo was a ton of fun, and I can’t wait to see what the full release looks like!”

ReStory is yet to pin down a precise release date but it’s due to land on PC sometime in 2026.
