Announced last December at The Game Awards 2025, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is being developed by Arcanaut Studios. This new studio is led by Casey Hudson, the director of the Mass Effect trilogy.
Today, we learn that the project is being funded by GreaterThan Group, a new holding company led by Simon Zhu, a former NetEase executive. He has raised $100 million. Regarding Fate of the Old Republic, Zhu stated that it won’t take hundreds of hours to complete. The story will still be replayable thanks to its many branching paths. Additionally, AI will not be used in the project.
GreaterThan Group is also providing financial backing for the upcoming game by David Vonderhaar, a veteran of the Call of Duty franchise.
