The Star Wars Battlefront series is making yet another comeback in 2026, and this time we hope it’s here to stay.
Despite the unyielding popularity of the Star Wars series it is lacking in active multiplayer games.
The OG Star Wars Battlefront games from back in the day were stellar but were later usurped by Electronic Arts. While they weren’t perfect they improved over time and had a lot of potential left in the tank, only for support to be killed off seemingly on a whim.
Fans have been aching for a revival and have even gone as far as creating their own successors, so if you’re also yearning for a return to the battlefront keep reading as one is on the way.
Star Wars Battlefront Makes A Comeback Later This Month
Later this month Star Wars Battlefront II (2018) is going to get a hell of a lot busier.
In previous years Star Wars fans have planned a mass return to the multiplayer game which often sees its playercount skyrocket to hundreds of thousands of players.
2026 is no different as fans are spreading the word, load up Star Wars Battlefront II on 23 May.
The Battlefront KYBER group shared the details on X, with the tagline “Make 100k Players Feel Like A Million.”
Players on Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms are all welcome to take part in the event, though keep in mind that crossplay was never added to the game.
Resurgence Day is back. STAR WARS Battlefront II is thriving, reinforcements are pouring in – and you’re invited 🫡

It should also be obvious that Electronic Arts is indeed done with the game. No amount of players will change the publisher’s mind as it’s moved onto other Star Wars games.
This means no characters, classes, maps or other such additions will be introduced even if the playercount surpasses a million users again. The best you’ll get is the servers staying up and a double/triple XP weekend.
If that disappoints and you’re dying for new content, it’s probably worth checking out the abundance of mods. Many of them are simple reskins but it’s worth it to have heroes and villains like Ahsoka Tano, Jango Fett and Asajj Ventress as playable characters.
There are also plenty of successor titles as we mentioned before, some of which can be found in Fortnite of all places.
Star Wars Battlefront 3 And Beyond
While Star Wars Battlefront II Resurgence Day is all about paying tribute to a fine Star Wars multiplayer title, it also has bigger implications for the future.
Electronic Arts has made no mention of Star Wars battlefront 3 but if it sees enough demand for it, there’s a better chance of it actually happening.
Other studios like Ubisoft have also been dipping their toes into the galaxy far, far away with games like Star Wars Outlaws, so perhaps the next Star Wars Battlefront game will be made by a completely different studio/publisher.
Who knows what the future holds, but if you want to make your demand for another game known hop on Star Wars Battlefront II on 23 May.
