The crowdfunding campaign for Star Citizen was launched back in October 2012 and has reached a new and highly symbolic milestone. It’s worth noting that, more than 13 years later, the space sim still hasn’t been released in version 1.0.
The game has officially surpassed the $1 billion mark in community funding. More than 6.5 million people have contributed real money to support the project.
It remains to be seen whether this success will help speed up development.
