Square Enix compares the different Final Fantasy VII Remake versions in a video

Final Fantasy VII Remake is making the jump to Xbox Series and Switch 2 on January 22. To reassure players who are thinking of purchasing these versions, Square Enix has posted a brief comparison online.

At first glance, there are no major differences between the four platforms shown in the teaser. However, it’s important to note that the Switch 2 is shown in TV mode only and that only the game’s introductory cutscene is presented. As a result, the texture of the ground seen at the 48-second mark of the clip appears to be more or less detailed depending on the platform.

In addition, Square Enix decided to lock the frame rate of Final Fantasy VII Remake at 30 FPS for the purposes of the video. While this limit will apply to Switch 2, it should be noted that the game runs at 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and that the frame rate can be even higher on PC.

So, while first impressions are very positive regarding the port of the title to Switch 2 and Xbox Series, there are technical and graphical differences that are not mentioned in the trailer.
