Sony’s Legend Of Zelda Movie Will Be Exclusive To Netflix After Theatrical Run

The Sony Pictures live-action The Legend of Zelda movie will be exclusive to Netflix following its theatrical run, Netflix and Sony Pictures have announced as part of a larger deal.

The Netflix / Sony deal is a multi-year “Pay-1” agreement that begins this year. The Zelda movie was singled out in Netflix’s announcement as some of the first SPE movies that will come to Netflix. Others include The Nightingale, Buds, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-verse, and the new Beatles movies from director Sam Mendes.

Deadline reported that Sony also considered making a deal with Amazon, but “Netflix stepped up.” The report said the value of the deal is $7 billion, but neither Netflix nor Sony confirmed this.
