PlayStation controllers have evolved significantly over the past two console generations. The PS5’s DualSense introduced groundbreaking features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
On the PS6, Sony could spark a new revolution with an even more astonishing controller. Indeed, the Japanese company recently filed a patent for a device featuring deformable buttons. The buttons could be twisted, pinched, raised, or pressed down.
Furthermore, these buttons will be interconnected by axes to form a grid. They would then be capable of transmitting sensations related to impact, force, or weight, similar to haptic feedback. This would enhance the user’s immersion.
We could feel various effects, such as the sensation of waves, gunshots, earthquakes, or even footsteps, directly through the controller’s buttons.
