In a video game, it’s not always easy to create a believable map when it features real-world locations. The map in Forza Horizon 6 aims to offer a condensed yet realistic portrayal of modern Japan. And Playground Games’ efforts seem to have paid off!
On X, several Japanese gaming personalities have praised the British studio’s efforts. This includes Keiichiro Toyama, the creator of Silent Hill, Gravity Rush, and the Siren franchise who, in a post accompanied by photos, saidd that after going out into the city, he felt “like I was actually in Forza Horizon 6“.
Additionally, Yuta Horie, a relatively well-known Japanese architect, said that “the map of Forza Horizon 6 is so Japanese that it’s almost too much.” It “meticulously pieces together fragments of Japan,” giving the impression that you’ve seen these landscapes somewhere before. He commends the teams at Playground Games for their “deep respect” for Japanese culture.
