The rumored new revision of the PS5 DualSense controller has hit store shelves, but without the highly anticipated feature it was reportedly going to launch with. Rumor had it that the controller would feature a removable battery. Unfortunately, that’s not true.
Revised PS5 DualSense controller doesn’t feature dual mics
Tech YouTuber Austin Evans got his hands on the revised DualSense, which is packaged with a new PS5 Pro model. While there are some differences in the battery department, a removable unit isn’t one of them.
Both the original DualSense and its revision weigh the same, but the new model doesn’t feature a second mic at the back. There is a new battery connector and some extra reinforcement for the battery itself in the new DualSense.
Austin Evans also noticed that Sony is now procuring DualSense components, like vibration motors, from a different manufacturer. However, there’s no difference in performance between the original and revised models.
The original rumor of a removable battery came from a reputable source, but since that source is Polish, there may have been a translation error. The new controller does indeed feature battery revisions, but they are just not what they heard.
We’ll continue to cross our fingers for a removable battery, though!

I completely agree! It’s always a bit disappointing when something we hoped for isn’t included. It’s worth noting, though, that even without the missing feature, the revised controller still offers some great enhancements in terms of ergonomics and battery life.
definitely a letdown when expectations don’t meet reality. It makes you wonder how much the design process influenced those missing features. Hopefully, future updates or revisions will address these concerns!
