Resident Evil Veronica revealed Summer Game Fest 2026

Capcom revealed Resident Evil Veronica to start Summer Game Fest, a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica, with Claire Redfield back in the lead. The new game is set to release in 2027.

Leaks had suggested a Code Veronica remake was in development, and watching the reveal live, it was immediately easy to spot Capcom’s RE Engine at work. The interesting part is that the game was shown in first-person perspective, suggesting this remake may incorporate Resident Evil Requiem’s ability to be played as either first-person or third-person. We’ll have to wait and see.

Hereโ€™s Capcomโ€™s synopsis for the game:

Resident Evil Veronica will draw players into a desperate escape filled with horror and madness through the isolated, zombie-filled Rockfort Island. Developed on Capcomโ€™s proprietary RE ENGINE, the game will introduce modernized gameplay with a chilling level of realism designed to push survival horror to new heights.

Resident Evil Veronica is set for a 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.

Capcom is on a roll. With how well Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata turned out, and with Onimusha: Way of the Sword showing promise, the company seems to be in a constant high where anything they put out is working for them. The announcement of Tifa joining Street Fighter 6 during Year 4 and the Monster Hunter Wilds expansion only further proves it.
