Remedy has decided to release Control Resonant during a very busy time of year. The single-player action-adventure RPG is set to launch on September 24, 2026—almost simultaneously with several major titles such as Minecraft Dungeons 2, Silent Hill: Townfall, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
Aware of the fierce competition ahead, the Finnish studio has chosen to go all out on marketing. This is one of the reasons why the sequel to Control was featured at State of Play, Summer Game Fest, and the PC Gaming Show.
Thomas Puha, Remedy’s communications director, stated that Control Resonant has the largest marketing budget in the company’s history.
“We set the release date based on what’s best for the game. The most important thing, as you’ll agree, is to deliver Control Resonant in the best possible quality, because that’s the right thing to do, rather than releasing a game that isn’t perfectly polished. If your game isn’t excellent at launch, players won’t like it, and it’s hard to recover from that.
The release window is challenging, there is no denying that, but there is always going to be competition, but ultimately, we have to trust the quality of our game. We are giving Control Resonant, by far Remedy’s biggest marketing campaign, to support the game. It is very competitively priced, and much more is coming in the days ahead now that we have announced our release date.”
Control Resonant retails at €59,99, €10 less than what’s normal for AAA games.
