Remedy CEO Steps Down After FBC: Firebreak Comes Up Short

Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that CEO Tero Virtala has stepped down, effective immediately. The announcement came just days after Remedy confirmed that the studio’s latest release, FBC: Firebreak, had “weak” sales and that the company would incur a profit hit.

Virtala was Remedy’s CEO since 2016. A search is now underway for a new CEO, Remedy said, and for the time bing, Virtala will “continue at the service of the company” as part of the handover process.

Remedy co-founder Markus Mäki is taking over as interim CEO. He is vacating his position as chairman of the board and will be replaced in that position by Henri Österlund.
