Quantic Dream will lay off 95 employees following the cancellation of Spellcasters Chronicles

Quantic Dream is in trouble. The French company has acknowledged the failure of its MOBA titled Spellcasters Chronicles, which launched last February. Development has been halted already, and the servers will shut down permanently on June 19.

The Video Game Workers Union (STJV) has stated that a restructuring plan is underway at the studio. This will result in massive layoffs: 95 positions, approximately a quarter of the company’s workforce, will be eliminated in the near future.

The union says that “catastrophic project management resulted in iteration after iteration, exhausting the team and leading production straight to disaster”. STJV directly blames the management team, comprising Guillaume de Fondaumière, David Cage, and Grégorie Diaconu, for these poor strategic decisions. Employee representatives had apparently sounded the alarm on multiple occasions to warn executives of the major risks posed by Spellcasters Chronicles
