PS5 First-Person Shooter Sequel Game Gets Promising Reviews

The second quarter of 2026 has begun, and with it are some solid PS4 and PS5 games to pick up on the PlayStation Store. From award-winning action-adventures to unique side-scrolling action games, there seems to be something for every PlayStation gamer. That includes Sigma Star Saga DX, a remaster of a classic Game Boy Advance game that was released over 20 years ago.

What is Sigma Star Saga DX?

Developed by WayForward and Mighty Rabbit, Sigma Star Saga DX is a remaster of the 2005 RPG space shooter that was originally released for the Game Boy Advance. Players will play as Ian Recker as they attempt to take out the Krill Empire. The remaster features several improvements to the original, including an improved map, decreased random encounter rate, rebalanced EXP system, updated script, and various bug fixes.

Here is a trailer and description of Sigma Star Saga DX, giving PlayStation players an idea of what to expect from the remaster:

“The classic shooter/RPG is back and better than ever! Featuring a unique mix of side-scrolling shoot-’em-up space battles and top-down planetary exploration, Sigma Star Saga DX is an explosive genre mashup that lets you take control of Allied Earth Federation pilot Ian Recker and infiltrate the alien Krill Empire as a double agent in a last-ditch effort to save mankind.”

Sigma Star Saga DX is available now for the PS5 on the PS Store for $19.99.

When Sigma Star Saga was originally released for the Game Boy Advance, it received somewhat middling reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 68 based on 34 critic reviews.
