PS5 and PS4 players have been surprised with yet another free port of a classic action game out of nowhere. If you thought 2014’s War Robots releasing on the PS Store last week was odd, wait till you see the 2009 multiplayer vehicular combat action game, Tanki Online.
Free PS4 game Tanki Online out now on PS Store, compatible with PS5
Tanki Online first launched in June 2009 as a browser-based multiplayer game. Its PS4 port (playable on PS5) is an odd choice of a game to launch in 2026, but it’s here, and its early PS Store rating is positive.
Since Tanki Online is free-to-play, you don’t need a PS Plus subscription to check it out. That said, PS Plus members can grab a free exclusive virtual currency reward. All other add-ons require a payment.
“Throw yourself into furious tank battles shoulder to shoulder with other real players and master your skills — destroy enemy tanks, customize your futuristic armored vehicle, and compete with tankers from all over the world,” an official description reads. “Instant respawns, millions of players around the globe, loads of arenas, non-stop action, and adrenaline await you in Tanki Online.”
Tanki Online offers 42 trophies, including the Platinum. As expected, you’ll have to grind for them.
