Two hit RPGs that released on the PlayStation Portable back in the day are officially coming to modern consoles, with some big updates and a release date window.

What PS5 ports of PSP RPGs are out this year?

NIS America announced that both The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure are both coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 later this year. No official release date was revealed, but NIS said both titles will release some time in 2026. No pricing or release information will be made available as of yet, but NIS notes both games can be purchased in a physical collection together when the games do come out.

The new releases of the games will include a variety of performance enhancements, including 4K resolution support. The games have gotten HD texture overhauls, and support of up to 120 FPS. Players will be able to switch between the original and upscaled textures, allowing fans to check out both versions of the game in case they might want to get a dose of nostalgia when they play.

The Legend of Heroes franchise is a series of role-playing games originally developed by Nihon Falcom. The series first began as part of the Dragon Slayer series in the 1980s, eventually spanning out into its own series. To date, 17 games have been released in the franchise, with the most recent being The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, which released in 2025.

Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure were released in 2010 and 2011, respectively, and originally released on the PlayStation Portable. Both have been ported to consoles in the past, including a recent PS4 and Switch release in 2022.
