PS5 Led Black Friday Sales in the US and UK, Followed by Nintendo Switch 2

Black Friday came, as usual, and went, resulting in a significant uptick in console sales for the United States and the United Kingdom. But lest you think that the more recent Nintendo Switch 2 was the top seller, Circana and GSD confirmed that it was actually the PlayStation 5.

Circana senior director Mat Piscatella revealed that 47 percent of hardware unit sales during the week were for the PS5, followed by Nintendo Switch 2 (24 percent) and, surprisingly, the NEX Playground 3rd (14 percent). In the UK, Sonyโ€™s console constituted 62 percent of total console hardware sales with the PS5 Pro recording its โ€œbest week since launch,โ€ according to Chris Dring of The Game Business.

In fact, it performed even better than last yearโ€™s Black Friday, with a 16 percent increase in unit sales. The Nintendo Switch 2 made up 23 percent of console sales, while Xbox contributed 10 percent, with overall console sales up by seven percent in the UK. Revenue was up an impressive 14 percent, according to the GSD.

With Sony pushing for 90 million PS5 consoles before the year is out, this and the Holiday sales period could very well make that a reality. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
