Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Iron Gate announced that their hit Viking survival game, Valheim, is coming to PS5. The game was originally released in 2021 for PC, and then on Xbox in 2023.

Although a specific release date for Valheim’s PS5 release was not announced, it was confirmed that it would release for PS5 in 2026. It is currently available in Early Access for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Linux, and Mac.

What is Valheim?

Valheim is a survival game where up to 10 players build and fight to survive in a procedurally-generated version of the tenth realm in Norse mythology. Since its launch on PC in 2021, players seem to be enjoying their time with the game, which has sold over 12 million copies. On Steam, reviews are at “Very Positive” with more than 477,000 reviews.

“We’re thrilled for Valheim to soon reach even more players with the upcoming launch on PlayStation”, said Henrik Törnqvist, co-founder of Iron Gate. “Bringing both new and longtime players to a new platform allows even more people to explore the world we’ve worked so hard to build, and we can’t wait to hear their stories as they’re able to dive into their Viking adventures.”

Iron Gate regularly updates Valheim, bringing new content to the purgatorial realm. The most recent major update, Call To Arms, featured a combat system update, as well as new weapons, armor sets, crafting materials, and enemies. The other major updates, which include Hearth & Home, Mistlands, and Ashlands, featured improvements to survival and base-building mechanics, and new biomes to traverse.

Coffee Stain doesn’t just publish games. It is also responsible for other popular video games, including Goat Simulator and Satisfactory.
