A PS5 console exclusive action RPG that was announced in 2024 has finally revealed its gameplay, and it looks promising. A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei (originally Project Jinyiwei) is a martial arts-themed game set in ancient China, and it’s getting development support from Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Players will step into the shoes of “an ordinary boatman,” who unexpectedly finds himself having to infiltrate the Jinyiwei (Ming Dynasty imperial guards). As an undercover agent for the black market, players will put their martial arts skills to use to carry out missions.
“Explore the late Ming Dynasty at a time when the empire is on the brink of collapse, and immerse yourself in the Wuxia world of the Chinese Ming Dynasty,” an official description reads. “Seek survival through your choices and glimpse the path ahead after rising and falling.”
A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei is part of PlayStation’s China Hero Project. The game will also release on PC alongside the PS5, but a release date has not been announced yet.
