The PlayStation Store houses tons of free PS4 and PS5 demos for gamers to check out. These can range from known fan-favorite franchises, like Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, to smaller experiences, like Cairn. The latest is Dark Auction from Japanese developer IzanagiGames.
What is Dark Auction?
Dark Auction is an adventure game where the game’s main character Noah is trapped in an old castle trying to solve the mystery of where his missing father has gone. Players will explore the castle, gather clues, and fix the memories of other auctioneers as the story unfolds.
Here is a description of the game, as well as a trailer, giving players an idea of what to expect from Dark Auction:
“1981, Somewhere in Europe. Eighteen-year-old Noah is haunted by the memory of his mother abandoning him as a child. He lives with his father Leonard, a failed writer obsessed with collecting items related to ‘Dictator X.’ Noah wishes he would stop, but Leonard refuses to give up his strange obsession, even as they struggle financially.
“One day, an auction invitation arrives, addressed to Leonard. Ignoring Noah’s protests, Leonard sets off for the old castle where the auction is to be held, promising to tell Noah everything once he returns. But Leonard never comes home. With no way to contact him, Noah heads to the castle himself, determined to bring him home—only to witness something shocking. Trapped inside the castle with the other guests, Noah decided to accept the Auctioneer’s invitation, and take part in the auction himself.”
Dark Auction launches for PS5 on January 29 and will be available both physically and digitally. Although a price is not listed on the PS Store currently, it was announced that the game will cost 5,340 yen, which is roughly $35. Supported languages include English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
