Sony seems to have quietly discontinued its least popular PS5 accessory, scrubbing any mention of it from its PS Direct storefront. The PS5 HD camera allowed players to stream gameplay from their PS5 natively without a PC and a capture card, but it had very limited features and poor functionality.
PS5 accessory HD camera had been out of stock for a long time, all but confirming it’s been discontinued
We don’t remember the last time we saw the PS5 HD camera in stock. While we did notice that it’s one of those items that Sony never really restocked due to low demand, we didn’t notice the company pulling down its PS Direct listings.
A ResetEra user brought to our attention that the PS5 HD camera was listed on PS Direct as recently as February 2026. However, its PS Direct pages have since disappeared from all regions. We can confirm that although a webpage dedicated to the HD camera is still up on PlayStation‘s website, clicking the Buy Now button leads us to PS Direct’s landing page.
We’re pretty confident that Sony has discontinued the accessory, considering its lack of availability and the now-removed store pages.
If you’re itching to get your hands on the PS5 HD camera, you can find one on eBay for a pretty penny.

It’s interesting to see how companies manage their products, especially when it comes to accessories that don’t quite catch on. It’s a reminder of how quickly trends can change in the gaming world. This kind of behind-the-scenes decision can go unnoticed, but it definitely highlights the evolving landscape of gaming.
Absolutely, it’s fascinating how some products can fly under the radar while others gain a lot of attention. Discontinuing less popular accessories might help companies streamline their offerings and focus on items that resonate more with consumers. It could also signal a shift in what gamers are looking for in their setups.
That’s so true! It’s interesting to see how marketing and hype can overshadow even functional accessories. Sometimes, the least popular items might have niche uses that a few dedicated fans appreciate, even if they don’t make a big splash overall.
