
After smashing the two-million mark in sales, Pragmata has stoked fire into the sci-fi adventure shooter genre that was struggling to stand on its own two feet.
Following the recipe laid out by Ellie and Joel in The Last of Us, Pragmata duo Diana and Hugh put developers Capcom back on the map.
Filled with particularly punishing puzzles as they operate in a crumbling lunar research station stuck millions of miles away from Earth, Capcom’s new blueprint was made by a team of young and hungry developers hardly seasoned in AAA releases. But this bright energy has now lit up Pragmata to become a huge franchise.
Just two months after its release, the Pragmata Producer is already eyeing a sequel, if only he can get the green light.
Pragmata Producer Wants To Do A Sequel
Dubbed as ‘the most pleasantly surprising games I’ve played in 2026’ by our review, Pragmata was a big change in direction for Capcom, who had put a lot of resources into expanding its wonderful Resident Evil universe.
Almost immediately, the code-breaking hacker-and-shooter duo of Diana and Hugh have attracted thoughts of exploring more stories, and Capcom agrees.
Speaking in an interview with Games Radar, Director Yonghee Cho and Producer Naoto Oyama claimed that they’d love to explore more Pragmata stories.
“I honestly don’t know what the future holds,” said Oyama,
“It’s only been a month since Pragmata went on sale, so honestly, what I’m focused on is just trying to get as many people to experience Pragmata as I can. I’m focused on Pragmata itself.”
Cho added, “Of course I’d love to see a sequel.”
“But I’m not the only one who decides, so unfortunately I can’t really comment beyond that,” adding that this was his “own personal opinion on the matter.”

These comments come after Capcom USA COO, Rob Dyer, said in April that he was pleased that the company had secured ‘anouther IP’, suggesting that there was a lot more to come from the franchise.
What might be more worrying for Pragmata fans, who may be unfamiliar with its development process, is that the sci-fi adventure title took more nearly six years to come to fruition.
Having been announced in June 2020 and released in April 2026, another instalment of the franchise that lives up to the hype of its first title might not arrive until deep into the next decade.
Although, with a successful blueprint already laid out, proving that two (or three) delays to the title were worth their weight in gold, and with the mechanics and gameplay set, all we need is a new thrilling story for our new favorite father and adopted daughter duo.
