PlayStation’s iconic video about game sharing on PS4 is now being torn apart in the comments

Back on June 11, 2013, Sony dealt the final blow to Microsoft, which had just given a very convoluted presentation for its Xbox One. Accused of trying to destroy the used game market by banning game sharing, the American company nearly didn’t survive E3 2013.

In addition to selling its PS4 at a more affordable price, PlayStation released a video that went viral. In it, we see Shuhei Yoshida, then president of internal studios, and Adam Boyes, formerly vice president of partner relations, passing a game back and forth to explain how game sharing worked on the PS4. A simple and effective method! Just a 20-second video for a crystal-clear message.

Unfortunately, 13 years later, Sony has finally decided to stop producing physical discs (effective January 2028). This will spell the end of the used game market and prevent users from lending games to one another. Gamers were quick to revisit the famous video to call out the company.

Comments such as “You’ve become the villain you used to mock,” “It’s like watching the wedding video after the divorce,” and “I’m taking back the ‘like’ I gave 13 years ago” are popping up. A huge number of internet users have gathered under this YouTube video to express their dissatisfaction and attack Sony. The internet never forgets…
