PlayStation Portal is getting a 1080p – High Quality mode on March 18

Sony will continue to improve its PlayStation Portal with a new update on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. The update will feature a big novelty designed to enhance the user experience.

Players will be able to select a new 1080p – High Quality mode, accessible from the quick menu. It will apply to both remote play and cloud streaming sessions. This mode allows games to run at a higher bitrate than the standard 1080p mode, delivering smoother gameplay and higher visual fidelity.

In addition, cloud gaming will also be enhanced with more comprehensive product detail pages, clear notifications for game invitations, more readable trophy notifications, and an improved search screen.

Finally, scanning a simple QR code displayed on the Portal will allow users to quickly create a PlayStation Network account.
