PlayStation : newly purchased games are incorrectly displaying a 30-day license

A major issue is currently affecting PlayStation games. In recent hours, social media has been abuzz with reports that Sony has applied a 30-day license to every title newly purchased via the PlayStation Store.

Initial reports mentioned the addition of this restriction on PS4 games and demos. Preliminary information indicated that if the console was no longer connected to the internet, the software license would expire after 30 days. But things may be different…

On X, the account « Does it play ? » claims to have learned from an anonymous source that this issue is actually unintentional. Sony reportedly « broke something » accidentally while patching a vulnerability. While this primarily affects PS4 games, PS5 titles are also reportedly affected. An error message warning of the imminent expiration of a PlayStation 5 game’s license may appear upon launch.

We are now awaiting clarification from Sony and, if this is indeed a manufacturer error, a quick fix.
