PlayStation fans are reportedly getting one more surprise release by the end of the year, something we knew would happen eventually but not so soon.
Some incredible games have launched on the PlayStation 5 this year and while console players have been having a blast, PC players have had to wait their turn.
PlayStation has made a habit of porting its first-party games to PC eventually but the release window is never an obvious one, with some getting a port relatively soon after launch and others taking an age to cross platforms.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was one of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s big releases this year, and like most Hideo Kojima productions nowadays, it was a divisive but highly praised title.
For those that haven’t played it yet due to lacking a PlayStation 5, the game is seemingly launching on PC potentially by the end of the year if the latest change to its ESRB rating is to be believed, of course.
This is usually a clear indication that a game is getting a re-release of some kind, with the rating usually appearing shortly before launch.
As such, this port could be mere days or weeks away. Perhaps we’ll see it shadow-drop at The Game Awards? Kojima and Geoff Keighley are besties after all. There is, always, the possibility it may be an early 2026 launch.
One Hell of a Sequel
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was arguably an improvement over its predecessor in almost every way.
The first game was the gaming equivalent of Marmite, either gamers loved it or they hated it. Many would say the overall experience was boring and trekking across mountains delivering parcels isn’t everyone’s idea of a good time, but die-hard Kojima enthusiasts were adamant players just weren’t getting it.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach felt a bit more exciting, with improvements to combat and an equally banger story elevating it to heights the previous game couldn’t reach.
GAMINGbible gave it a 9/10, citing its star-studded performances and photorealistic visuals as its major highlights, with gameplay this time around only held back by dull or frustrating stealth segments.
When the game does inevitably come to PC, it’ll be interesting to see how it’ll be perceived, and with a nomination for 2025’s Game Of The Year, the likelihood of getting a re-release seems high.
Hopefully it won’t be too much longer before it comes to Xbox too like the first game did.
