Persona 4 Revival Rated 15+ in South Korea

Among the host of games rated for release in its latest batch of ratings, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea has also rated Persona 4 Revival. Sega had seemingly applied for the rating on April 9th, which was granted just a few weeks later, on April 24th. The title has been rated as being suitable for players aged 15 and over, likely thanks to its overall themes, character arcs, and a plot that revolves around hunting down a serial killer.

The rating indicates that Sega and Atlus might be getting ready to showcase more of the title after having revealed little else since its announcement last year.

Persona 4 Revival was officially unveiled back in June 2025 with a teaser trailer. As its name might imply, it is going to be a ground-up remake of the 2008 PS2 RPG Persona 4 that makes use of a more modern game engine. Its teaser trailer indicated that we might see it use a visual style similar to Persona 3 Reload – the 2025 remake of 2006’s Persona 3.

At the time, no other details about Persona 4 Revival had been revealed aside from a quick look at some of the many areas in the town of Inaba that players can visit, from its market street to the protagonist’s house and even the classroom. The teaser was quite brief, with the only bit of gameplay shown being the protagonist running from the Inaba town shrine through its market street.

The title is confirmed to be in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and Sega has also confirmed that it will be playable through Xbox Cloud.

The announcement came after several rumors of a Persona 4 remake being in the works started going around. One report accurately reported that it would be similar in style to Persona 3 Reload, including the use of entirely new assets, voice acting, and music.

Discussions about the remake had also come up in May 2025, when Yuri Lowenthal – the voice actor for Persona 4 party member Yosuke Hanamura – had indicated that it was in the works. In a social media post, he said that he had “begged” to reprise his role, but that Atlus had declined. The voice actor’s post has since been deleted.

Despite the number “4” in its title, Persona 4 is essentially the second game in the series that would define Persona as a franchise. While Revelations: Persona, and Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment had both already come out by then, their gameplay systems and themes were quite different from what we would eventually get with Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5. The franchise became well-known for focusing on the social aspects that play an important role in the lives of school children, who have always served as protagonists for the series.

In Persona 4, the player takes on the role of a kid who had to move to the small town of Inaba for a school year since his parents had to travel abroad. While the hero makes friends and starts learning things at school, the plot truly kicks off with mysterious disappearances, dead bodies showing up in strange places, and an urban legend about a certain TV channel that can only be seen on rainy nights.
