If you’re looking for a fun horror game to give you the chills down your spine this week, but might be short of cash, with it being a week or so from your monthly pay, then this free game might be worth your attention.
When gamers think of the horror genre in the video game industry, two names that will likely come to mind are the aforementioned Resident Evil and Silent Hill. However, there are plenty of other fantastic horror games to check out, outside of those franchises, especially when it comes to what’s offered by the indie community.

“Explore a remote village and solve complex puzzles in The Whispering Valley, a folk horror point & click game. Delve into guilt and depression to investigate the village’s deepest secret,” reads the synopsis of the game developed and published by Studio Chien d’Or.
After watching the trailer, while The Whispering Valley would be a treat for Resident Evil and Silent Hill fans, I can’t help but get vibes of Amnesia: The Dark Descent meets What Remains of Edith Finch.
What Does the Community Say About The Whispering Valley?
On GOG, The Whispering Valley is rated 3.9/5 from eight user reviews. As for Steam, it’s got a rating of “Very Positive” from 157 user reviews. Oddly, this game has no score on the aggregate website, Metacritic.
That being said, when considering both ratings from GOG and Steam, it gives the impression that The Whispering Valley, at the very least, is a decent horror game. Plus, it’s totally free.
How Long Do I Have to Claim the Free Game?
You only have until Tuesday, 28 April 2026, to claim The Whispering Valley for free. After that, it will return to its RRP of ÂŁ9.99/$11.99.
