PC Gamers Can Grab 9/10 Game For Free, Keep Forever

Great news! An incredible, but overlooked, banger from 2023 is being given away for free right this second.

Bad news… it’s not being given away on Steam. Apologies in advance to those of you who enjoy adding free games to your Steam library that you never intend to play.

It’s been a hot minute since I had to cover anything relating to the Epic Games Store, and there’s a pretty good reason for that.

Now, to be fair, they’ve given away a few great PC games this year, like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Sable, Sid Meier’s Civilization 6: Platinum Edition, Machinarium, and Ghostrunner 2.

However, it’s a far cry from the type of stuff they were giving away back in 2019, like Metro 2033 Redux, Batman: Arkham Collection, Alan Wake, Subnautica and Celeste (to name but a few).

In fact, the only time you really hear anything about the Epic Games Store these days is when CEO Tim Sweeney says some stupid stuff on Twitter about their competitor, Steam.

Still, free is free, so let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth, because this week’s Epic Games Store offering honestly looks pretty damn cool.

A glimpse at Universe for Sale’s beautiful hand drawn art, Akupara Games

Universe for Sale, the 2D point-and-click visual novel from developer Tmesis Studio and Akupara Games, didn’t exactly make a huge splash when it dropped back in 2023.

The game doesn’t even have an official critical rating on the Epic Games storefront because, presumably, nobody on there has actually played it yet.

Thankfully, you can blame the fact that nobody uses the Epic Games Store for that, because Universe for Sale has a “Very Positive” score over on Steam (with 94% of its 94 reviews being positive).

I have to admit, I haven’t played this one, but the beautiful hand-drawn 2D art is already swaying me into giving it a go.

Plus, it has weird, kitchy futuristic vibes, so I’m very much the target audience for it.

If you also like the look of it, then I’d highly suggest that you dust off your Epic Games Store login and claim this one immediately, because it’s only available until December 4 next month.

If you don’t like the look of it, then keep an eye on the Epic Games Store towards the end of December, because Epic likes to drop its best free games in the last two weeks of the month.

Can’t promise you that it’ll be as good as the previous December offerings, but I reckon there will at least be a couple of bangers in there.
