PC Free Demo Is A Must-Play FPS Inspired By The Doom Franchise

PC gamers who are also massive Doom fans can now check out a demo for VAL’TY, an upcoming shooter inspired by the classics.

Developed by Vikintor, VAL’TY is inspired by video games from the late 1990s and early 2000s like Doom, Half-Life and Quake.

It’s a first-person shooter where you play as an alien mother. Throughout the ages, the Valtians have been ostracised by humanity, feared for their great power.

This fear has led to a human corporation creating a machine that is said to be able to “tame” these hostile aliens.

You play as Val’ty, a member of the Valtians who takes it upon herself to destroy the machine and everything else in her path.

And what’s more, she’s also bringing her daughter along for the ride. Because why not.

Luckily, the game doesn’t treat Val’ty’s daughter as an extended escort mission that you need to keep an eye on. She’s actually invincible, and will help you out periodically throughout the game’s campaign. If you lose sight of her, you can call her to your location at the press of a button, and then ask her to activate different levers or buttons to access areas you can’t normally reach.

VAL’TY Is A 90s-Inspired FPS Game Which Is Worth Your Time

In VAL’TY, you must explore hostile human bases, uncovering secrets while devouring enemies which are in your path.

Using your daughter’s ability to unlock new areas, discovering new powers will make combat easier or better to play. One of the game’s biggest selling points is being able to break through levels, destroying aspects of the game which will help you discover even more secrets.

VAL’TY is recommended for retro game fans who prefer shorter experiences with plenty of easter eggs, especially those who are after a “mom game”.

Vikintor also lists the types of people who the game isn’t recommended for, such as those who crave long games and want constant updates. If you’re after a clone of your favourite FPS or want access to a vast arsenal, you may also be out of luck here.

Anyway, if you fancied checking VAL’TY out, you can now try a demo for the game on PC now. Although it has a Steam store page listing, the demo can currently be found only on itch.io where you can download it to your PC DRM-free.

As Vikintor says, the demo requires Vulkan to run and may not work on older machines. They aren’t specific about how old PCs need to be, but considering Vulkan came out in 2016, we’d recommend having a PC that at least meets those requirements.
