Last week, Capcom released a free demo of Onimusha: Way of the Sword for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Today, the Japanese company announced that the demo has already been downloaded over a million times.
Additionally, Akihito Kadowaki, the game’s producer, responded in a video message to a question from players. Indeed, some users felt the demo was too easy to complete. The criticism mainly targets the basic enemies, who can be killed with just one or two sword strikes.
Kadowaki clarified that the hero’s abilities were intentionally boosted for the purposes of the demo. He possesses powers he shouldn’t have at this specific point in the game. The goal was to allow players to test different techniques to get a sense of what will be offered in the final game.
“Thank you very much for playing the demo of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. We’ve taken into account the feedback that some players found the demo too easy. First of all, the demo is just a glimpse of the beginning of the story.
Additionally, we really wanted you to enjoy the variety of Musashi’s moves, which is why we intentionally equipped him with end-game skills. As a result, some players may have felt the game lacked difficulty.
Rest assured, in the final version, the bosses and the usual Genma will put up an even fiercer fight. Get ready to take on the challenge of the full game.”

It’s great to hear that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will offer an even more challenging experience than the demo! Fans of the series are sure to appreciate the added difficulty. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together!
