On consoles, Borderlands 4 drops frames after an hour of play

Yes, Borderlands 4 is suffering from serious technical issues on all platforms. While the PC version was already being criticized for its so-so performance, a major problem has also been discovered on consoles.

The frame rate begins to tank after several minutes of play on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. According to Digital Foundry, performance drops after about an hour of gameplay, mainly in Performance mode. This can also be the case on Graphics mode, but to a lesser extent.

This issue has already been observed in other games, such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. A memory leak could be the cause. For now, Randy Pitchford, the head of Gearbox, recommends restarting the software frequently in order to restore performance. There is a fix currently in the works.
