No PS5 Pro Support for September’s Biggest New Game, It Seems

Borderlands 4 PS5 Pro support

It looks like September 2025’s biggest new game has been released without exclusive PS5 Pro support or enhancements. We were a bit worried about Borderlands 4 when we noticed that its PS Store page didn’t carry the “Pro Enhanced” tag — something Sony proudly displays. Early buyers are now confirming our suspicions.

Will Borderlands 4 get PS5 Pro exclusive enhancements later down the line?

In case you’re wondering why we didn’t review Borderlands 4, it’s because 2K didn’t send out PS5 review codes. The reviews that did go live were all based on the PC version of the game. But now that players have gotten their hands on Borderlands 4, we’re able to get more information about its performance.

Over on Reddit, players have confirmed that while Borderlands 4’s performance is acceptable, there are some frame rate stutters as well as rendering issues on the PS5 Pro. Split-screen performance is widely being criticized on all consoles, however.

One player noted that although Borderlands 4 runs at 60 FPS, the Performance Mode doesn’t work well, and things get worse after an hour of gameplay, suggesting some kind of memory issue.

Players are also unhappy with Borderlands 4’s limited field-of-view, with some noting that the game doesn’t look better than its last-gen predecessor.

We’re hoping that a PS5 Pro patch will drop post-launch alongside improvements for the base PS5.
