Nintendo Switch Confirms 3 New Resident Evil Releases

The Nintendo Switch 2 is not getting just one Resident Evil game, but there next year.

Announced during the recent Nintendo Direct event, recent rumours were confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. But that is not all, because so are 2017’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and 2021’s Resident Evil Village.

If you’ve got a case of deja vu, then there’s a good reason, because both Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village have previously been released on the original Nintendo Switch system.

However, both were cloud versions that weren’t the best quality, especially if you never had a top-notch internet connection, and they certainly weren’t ideal for playing on the go.

Thankfully, both of these newer versions are direct downloads, so you can play Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village without the concern of your internet dropping. Unless it annoyingly happens when downloading the games, of course.

What’s more, it was confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem is also headed to the Nintendo Switch 2, and it will launch alongside the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

We were treated to a new gameplay trailer, featuring Grace Ashcroft and her mother, Alyssa, a popular character from the Resident Evil Outbreak games.

In the trailer, we saw gameplay footage of Grace and Alyssa exploring a creepy building, likely trying to escape from horrific creatures. We also saw a glimpse of a new enemy staggering about in a hall, which could be a zombie. Oh, and we got to see a snippet of what could be a new antagonist.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil Requiem will all be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on 27 February 2026.
