Santa Monica Studio wasnât kidding when it said it wasnât done with Kratos in God of War. At a San Diego Comic-Con panel, head of creative Cory Barlog confirmed that the next title starring the Ghost of Sparta would launch after God of War Laufey.
As reported by IGN, Barlog talked about how, âEverything we are doing in the Faye game is a continuation of what came before and to set up and expand what comes next. Phranque has been around since the beginning. Itâs interesting to see how to build this world out. Everything in the game is setting up for something so amazing.â
We already had an inkling that the Everywhenâs story would continue when Faye actor Deborah Ann Woll said itâs only the âbeginning of a stepâ into an âuntapped universe.â The fact that her story is seemingly running parallel to God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok also implied some connections.
However, itâs possible that they could eventually intersect, thus setting up the next mainline entry with Kratos. Time will tell, as always, but, incredibly, Barlog had Fayeâs journey set up as far back as 2018 when the premise was first pitched to Woll.
God of War Laufey launches on February 16, 2027 for PS5. As revealed in an extensive showcase at the last State of Play, Faye is the protagonist, finding herself in the Everywhen where various powerful deities have ended up. She seeks to escape and return to Kratos and Atreus, joining up with Phranque and Rue in her journey.
